8 RTX 4090s Can Break Passwords in Under an Hour
The RTX 4090, NVIDIA’s new graphics card, is now available and users who have been able to get their own unit have already begun to enjoy its enormous power. However, one expert has discovered that this component is capable of cracking any eight-character password in just 48 minutes if enough of them are gathered.
Sam Croley, a cybersecurity researcher, reported via Tom’s Hardware that gathering eight of these GPUs and placing them in a password cracking kit would be enough to crack these keys in less than an hour. All this was discovered thanks to the performance of the graphics card in the HashCat test as it revealed the cryptographic capabilities of its AD102 core.
